Yao Lei, born in Gongyi, Henan in 1983, graduated with a Master degree from Southwest Jiaotong University in 2011 and currently works and lives in Chengdu. His solo exhibitions include “The Romantic’s Trespassing of the Snow Hall” at Gallery MC, Shenzhen (2024), “Fennel Stalk of Prometheus” at Space Station, Beijing (2020), “When the Penumbra Said to the Umbra” at Brise Gallery, Chengdu (2019), and “Lonely Glory” at LiaoLiao Art Space, Chengdu (2013). He has also participated in group exhibitions such as the Chengdu Art Institute Annual Exhibition at Chengdu Art Museum (2024), “Gathering of the Transmission of Light” at Liao Liao Art Space (2023), Chengdu Art Museum Nomination Exhibition (2017), Värmland Artists’ Association in a collaboration with artists from China, at Konsthall Spisrummet, Karlstad, Sweden (2016), “Stacking 2015” at LISSUE, Paris (2015), the “2007 Chinese Contemporary Art Documentation Exhibition” at Today Art Museum, Beijing (2008), and the Sichuan Youth Art Exhibition at Sichuan Art Museum, Chengdu (2007).
